Dr Stefan Uhrlandt, Vice President Operations and Research & Development, joined the iSTAR Medical team in April 2019 with over 25 years of experience in R&D, Process Management and Marketing.
Stefan’s experience includes senior global leadership positions in industrial and medical device companies both in Germany and in the US, including Evonik (specialty chemicals), Ethicon (Johnson & Johnson Medical Devices), and most recently Alcon (previously a Novartis company). In his most recent role at Alcon, Stefan held a global role responsible for contact lenses as Senior Director R&D, Vision Care. Prior to Alcon, Stefan worked at Ethicon over a period of 8 years, lastly as Executive Group Director R&D, globally responsible for 3 product platforms and directly responsible for 5 organisational units including R&D, Innovation Management, Pre-Clinical Development, Medical Affairs and Regulatory Affairs.
Stefan has a PhD in Natural Sciences and a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Hannover (Germany), and an Executive MBA from Rutgers Business School, Newark, NJ (USA). Stefan holds multiple patents in both chemicals and medical devices.
